Denver's Immigrant Partnership Team, alongside the Communities Not Cages National Day of Action, invites the community to protest secret holding sites. In March we learned that ICE is holding people in inhumane conditions at nine concealed sites across Colorado. These "hold rooms" are secret detention sites where people are being held for days at a time without access to their loved ones or lawyers and without access to decent food, sleeping, or toilet facilities. Statement about this specific office site from the Mayor of Centennial:

As the Mayor of Centennial, we’ve had constituents reach out about a possible ICE black site at the Caley Building.

Working with Congressman Crow’s office as well as Arapahoe County Sheriff Brown, they have both confirmed that no one is being held longer than 6 hours at this site.

If this changes in the future, Centennial land use codes do not permit this type of use, and we would work within our rights as a home rule municipality to make appropriate changes.

However, the Centennial facility does play a critical role in processing individuals who have been waiting for their asylum hearings, allowing them to move through the legal system in a timely manner.

I assure you that I will continue to work closely with Congressman Crow’s office and Sheriff Brown so if anything changes, we are aware as quickly as possible.
